“My program is a fast and comprehensive way for busy and overwhelmed women to unpack the factors that keep them busy and overwhelmed and design and cultivate a life that is fulfilled and balanced.”

Dr. La-Toya Gaines

Nourishing the Strong Black Woman is a 7-week transformative journey and community that will fundamentally change the way you define strength.

You’ll complete this program with a deeper understanding of what the Strong Black Woman narrative means in and to your everyday life, the harm it can cause, and a realistic plan for redefining it on your own terms.

I’ve fast-tracked the progress that some of my clients see in 6 months into a 7-week program. The repeated processes that I’ve used with clients over the past 10 years are now condensed, so you get all the benefits in a fraction of the time.

We start the next journey to freedom on February 18, 2025!

I recently had a conversation with a woman. When I asked her how she was feeling. She said,

“I’m tired.” ⁣

I proceeded to ask her, “Mentally? Physically? Emotionally?” ⁣⁣

She immediately responded, “All of them and if you got one more, add that too.” ⁣⁣⁣⁣

I’d wager that as Black women, most of us, have felt similarly.⁣⁣

Most of our behaviors and habits – even if detrimental to our well-being – are borne from a desire to do what’s best for our families and loved ones, but also because we’re afraid to be seen as weak, fragile, less than, or incapable. So we end up exhausted, burdened, resentful, anxious or depressed.  It doesn’t have to be this way!

Take Control of Your Life!

Wave goodbye to guilt, fatigue, and resentment!

This journey will help you put a stop to…

All of this is possible when you break free from the typical narrative and expectations of the Strong Black Woman. Begin your journey to nourish your mind, body, and soul with me and other like-minded women in 2025!

You’ll Get the Tools You Need to Transform Your Life

There are a lot of voices talking about the plight of the Strong Black Woman, but we need to move from information to action! These 7 weeks are your opportunity to no longer talk about it but be about it.

Week 1

What Is a SBW?

Week 2

Emotional Strength

Week 3

Caretaking

This week, we’ll explore what it traditionally means to be a Strong Black Woman and where our earliest influences and lessons come from.
We break down the 3 core features of the SBW and explore how we express emotions and how it was modeled for us in various contexts.
We’ll look at how caring for others can hinder self-care and love if taken to the extreme. We’ll also discuss the importance of prioritizing self.

Week 4

Independence

Week 5

Grace Under Fire-Thriving as Strong Black Woman in the Workplace

Week 6

Whole Self-care – Building Sustainable Habits

This week is all about balance and finding self-sufficiency in a variety of ways
This week, we’ll address the unique challenges Black women face in the workplace, covering self-advocacy, balancing work and self-care, and boosting confidence and pay by recognizing your worth.
We’ll redefine self-care, break down the guilt and myths around it, and explore how to build sustainable habits that support your well-being.

Week 7

SILENT No More

In our final week, we’ll celebrate your progress, reflect on growth areas, and create a personalized plan to overcome obstacles and maintain your self-care practices.

But That’s Not All!

I’m throwing in a resource to make sure you’re making the progress you need and want

This journal is jam-packed with prompts and exercises that will capitalize on the ideas and concepts we cover in our virtual sessions. It’s designed to explore more in-depth what we’ve uncovered in our time together and prepare you for each upcoming virtual session.

How Nourishing the Strong Black Woman is Different from Other Things You’ve Tried

Here’s how it compares:

Self-Improvement Methods NSBW
Therapy can get expensive and time-consuming and sometimes it’s difficult to find a therapist that is a good fit. The program takes the processes and tools that you would use in therapy and accelerates them for a concentrated experience for a fraction of the cost.
Doing your own research and trying to restructure your life – DIY style You have the benefit of my expertise. I’ve done and continue to do the research into what is affecting Black women in this area. I’ve also already developed a process to restructure your life. You also get the added benefit of it taking less time to transform your current situation.
Going to conferences or similar events have the community aspect to them, but once you return home your motivation and enthusiasm usually wane. This journey is spread out over 7 weeks. You are in a community in which other women are going through the same process and you get my support and guidance. This community holds you accountable and by the end of the 7 weeks, you’ll have the tools and processes to sustain the change you’ve initiated.

This journey to self-love is for you if…

In Just 7 Weeks, You’ll

In these 7 weeks, you’ll receive dedicated and personalized attention and access to a licensed psychologist specializing in working with women experiencing the Strong Black Woman syndrome.

I’m providing a safe and supportive space with like-minded women so that you know you are not alone.

At the end of the 7 weeks, you’ll leave encouraged, empowered, and, most importantly, equipped to make a real change in your life!

What if I spend this money and I still don’t feel better?

If you don’t take action, if you don’t decide to do something different, then I can promise you nothing will change.

I’m here to give you the tools you need to shed the weight of the Strong Black Woman burden, but you will have to do the work using the tools. Participating in this program means, you will not have to do it alone. You will have access to a supportive group of women and to me!

You’ve done this work with clients in therapy over months. How much can we really get done in 7 weeks?

This journey is for those women who are ready to accelerate their process of shedding the Strong Black Woman stereotype. This program is designed for those who are ready to jump into the deep end and immerse themselves in this process. By working with clients in therapy over a series of months, I’ve been able to streamline the process with specific journal prompts, exercises, homework and discussion points that I’ve used with long-term clients.

How am I supposed to make time for this on top of all I’m already doing?

This journey will require 2 hrs each week to attend virtually plus an additional 20 mins/day for 3 days for journaling and reflection.

This amounts to 3 hrs/week for 7 weeks. This seems like a drop in the bucket for a major change. Check your phone to see how much time you spent scrolling social media over the last week. How does this compare to the time needed for the journey? What did you actually learn from scrolling social media? Going on this journey will be time better spent and result in creating the foundation for redefining what it means to be a Strong Black Woman for you.

Are 21 hours worth the next 21 months of your life being better than you’ve ever experienced?
