Well, we’re 10 days into the new year and you’re focused on this year being different than last year. You’ve identified goals for the year and are off to a great start with achieving them. But how do you keep this momentum going for the whole year? Here are three ways to stay focused on your goals and keep your motivation high:
- Write your goals down. Too often you try to keep track of goals and tasks in your head. The problem with this is you forget the goals and tasks, so having goals written down helps to know exactly what it is you’re working on AND when you’ve achieved your goals.
- Keep your goals where you can see them daily. It isn’t enough to just write them down, you must see your goals consistently to keep them at the forefront of your mind. Seeing your goals consistently helps you maintain your focus on reaching them and helps you remain diligent with daily or weekly tasks to accomplish the overall goal.
- Get an accountability partner. Having someone to share your goals with is another way to remain focused. Your accountability partner can help you problem-solve challenges that may come up as you pursue your goals. Sharing your progress or lack thereof will keep you honest about your commitment to achieving your goals; you won’t be able to just talk the talk, you’ll have to walk the walk with your accountability partner!
With these three suggestions, you are well on your way to accomplishing the goals you have set for the year. These tips will help you take advantage of the momentum and motivation you have now throughout the year. Happy New Year and good luck with staying focused on your goals throughout 2020!!
